Hello, friends! Hazel Creek Soapworks is officially open for business. I temporarily closed this soap shop last summer, but I haven't stopped making soap OR future plans.
For the past year or so, I've been focusing on growing my proofreading business. I proofread transcripts for court reporters. (They're the ones who take down EVERY SINGLE WORD that's said in court proceedings via steno. I'm convinced it's a superpower.) It's absolutely fascinating work (though maybe only to nerds like me - there is a lot of "legalese," after all).
When I'm working with my brain, though, my hands-on creative side begs for a turn. And now that I've got a handle on the proofreading business, I have more time to focus on my creative passion.
Although not TOO much more time... because if you haven't heard, we're expecting #2 around Thanksgiving! Things are about to heat up around here. (Watch my soapy gender reveal video here!)
Because of that, I've been making plans for how to keep my shop stocked and in motion throughout our new busy season of life. Stock may still be limited at the beginning while we're trying to gauge the ebb and flow of demand (customer demand or baby demand? ;) ). Also, soap takes 6 weeks to cure after it's made, so predicting inventory amounts can get little tricky. I hope you'll bear with me while we get it figured out!
Now on to my latest shop announcement: This year I'm going to keep all-time favorites in stock year-round, but debut a new seasonal collection for each season. The collection will include about 3 season-exclusive fragrances, as well as matching candles. I'll announce the special seasonal scents through the newsletter and on Instagram.
And the next season that's coming up is... FALL!
I'm never one to hurry up fall because I'm not a fan of the cold, but everyone around here starts getting fall fever once school starts up and Starbucks releases that pumpkin spice latte. I have to admit, though, for as much as a summer girl that I am, I do love the smells and comforts of autumn, and I've been having a blast working on these autumn products.
Starbucks dropped their pumpkin spice latte yesterday, but I think I'll wait for "first day of school" to debut the collection, which is Tuesday, September 4th. So stay tuned!
P.S. Here's a sneak peek at the top of one of the new fall soaps! Mmm, it smells good.
